Though the experience was “crushing,” Locke said, it's obvious televised breakups do have benefits.

Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski found love this season on The Bachelorette, and they're both preparing to open their hearts once more — to a dog! "Ed and I plan on adopting a rescue as soon as we settle into a place," Harris, who is getting ready to move to Chicago to be with Swiderski, tells PEOPLE Pets.
Dogs have been a part of the Canadian's life since she was little — beginning with a special canine named Sweets. "My parents put her under the tree at Christmastime when I was about 5," Harris recalls. "We had her for 12 years and she was truly my BFF. We did everything together!" The Vancouver native (and only child) would dress her pup in knit sweaters and take her on road trips. "It was a big joke in the family that she was the other child," Harris says of Sweets, who passed away after being hit by a car during a thunderstorm in 1993. Real life has dramatically changed for Encinitas resident Kiptyn Locke since participating in this summer's hit reality show "The Bachelorette."
No longer able to anonymously go out to breakfast, fill up for gas or run errands, complete strangers have been known to stop him on the street.
Just this week while he was sitting outside at the Pannikin coffee shop in Leucadia, Locke said, a Las Vegas woman driving by at 40 mph recognized him, waved, and did a U-turn on the Coast Highway before coming up to talk to him about the popular series.

"I didn't ask her because I don't want to know," the ABC reality show host told Us Weekly of his recent conversation with Harris.
Rumors about the couple's future began swirling last week when a pair of women stepped forward and claimed to Us that Swiderski was up to no good. One such allegation is that Swiderski slept with his former girlfriend, Lindsey Johnson, just eight days after he popped the question to Harris on the "Bachelorette" finale.
